Why Custom made Cakes are more expensive than those bought from the stores?

Actually, it's NOT.

Traditionally, many people prefer to "pick" up their cake from stores because there aren't many private bakers available. We are not spoilt with choices back then. The box of cake I ordered for my son is just the same as the one you ordered for your mum. However, time is different now. There are so many custom bakers out there who would be more than happy to help you with a customize cake that suits your occasion  and event. However, their price is always more expensive than those available from the cake shops/stores like Le Boheme, The Bees, Bakers Cottage etc.

These major chain-stores can afford to charge lower prices for their products because they are mass produced using largely artifical ingrediants! And, when you look at their available designs, these same limited designs are available to EVERY customer! You definitely will not get a one of a kind piece created just for you - which is fine, if that is what you want. Their employees are trained to create the same designs over & over & over again….no creativity is ever required.
